How Does This Technology work?
This technology incorporates Four Valves, two each of the inlet and exhaust valves in the engine. Thus, it is different and better than one valve for each inlet & exhaust valve used in the conventional engine design. This engine uses its valves just like the human nose. So, two inlet valves mean more opening of the area to suck the air-fuel mixture.
The two inlet valves increase the area of the air intake. It allows the more air-fuel mixture to get into the cylinder. Thus, it increases the amount of air than the conventional design. The newer generation engines with this technology are now commonly used in both cars & bikes alike.
Furthermore, Yamaha’s 4-Valve design features a single spark plug positioned at the center of the combustion chamber. Thus, it better spreads the flame and enables highly efficient combustion. It also gives steadier engine performance at low speeds. Besides, it also provides a better acceleration feeling according to Yamaha.
According to Bajaj Auto, the cylinder-head with 4-Valve technology increases the combustion area covered by the valves. As a result, it can be up to more than 50% compared to a 2-valve design. Thus, it improves the engine’s performance, such as its power, throttle response, and pick-up at all engine speeds. Therefore, it also results in better fuel efficiency and helps in lowering emissions.
