Yamaha Saluto 125 vs Hero Glamour PGM-Fi vs Honda CB Shine:

Yamaha’s Saluto is the newest of the 125cc bikes in India with an affordable price tag of Rs.52,000, ex-showroom, Delhi. The Saluto takes on the Hero Glamour & Honda CB Shine in the premium commuter segment. So, we compare the three 125cc bikes – Yamaha Saluto 125, Hero Glamour and Honda CB Shine in the premium commuter segment.

Engine & Transmission:

As far as the engine goes, all the three bikes have a 125cc engine. Among them, the Honda CB Shine has the most power, delivering a good 7.86 kW which is higher than the Hero Glamour and Yamaha Saluto that gives only 6.1 kW. Among the three, the CB Shine’s higher torque value of 10.54 Nm is almost at par with the Glamour’s 10.35 Nm & Yamaha Saluto’s 10.1 Nm. All the three 125cc bikes get by a 4-speed gearbox.

All the three 125cc bikes are equipped with the kick & electric start option.

Fuel Efficiency:

In the fuel economy, the Hero Glamour with PGM-Fi delivers a mileage of 81 Km/L – the highest of the three. Following is the Saluto 125 which gives 78 Km/L. The CB Shine delivers 65 Km/L. So, overall, the Glamour delivers the ideal combination of the power & mileage in the 125cc segment.

Suspension:

All the bikes compared here do offer a telescopic-hydraulic suspension on the front which is common to all. On the rear, Saluto & Glamour provide a Swing arm suspension & hydraulic shockers, which provides better ride quality.

The particular models compared here provide drum brakes on front & rear. The front drum brake on the Hero Glamour & Honda CB Shine is of 130mm dia. whereas that on the Yamaha Saluto, this data is not given. The rear drum brake on both Hero Glamour & CB Shine is of 130mm dia. Hero Glamour & Honda CB Shine also come with optional disc brakes on the front. However, Yamaha Saluto only has drum brakes.

The Saluto is the longest among them with 2035 mm length. The CB Shine is widest with 762 mm width. All the three 125cc bikes have an almost equal wheelbase of 1265mm. However, Saluto has the highest ground clearance of 180mm; making it ideal for rural road conditions. With the highest mileage of 81 Km/L and biggest fuel tank of 12 liters, the Glamour could cover more distance in its journey. While with just 112 kg, Yamaha Saluto’s is the lightest bike among the three 125cc bikes which will make handling easier for the rider….!!!
